Day 1 is in the record books…and what an awesome day!
We arrived at Camp Copass about 45 minutes behind schedule, but caught back up later in the day. These boys all seemed to really be enjoying themselves today.
Our memory verse today was Ephesians 6:11.
We had a good large group time where we talked about “The Grand Story God is Telling” in relation to some of their favorite movies, stories, etc. Borrowing from Eldridge’s “Waking The Dead”, I highlighted the 3 major themes in all great, epic stories:
1. Things are not what they seem.
2. We were born into a world already at war.
3. You have a crucial role to play.
We had TONS of participation…it was great. Our junior counselors who are doing worship: David Collins, Ryan Shelton, Daniel Ferguson, Jaret Benson and David Schwarz are doing a phenominal job!! We have SUCH a talented group!
We had about 1:30 in the pool this afternoon, which was some much needed cool. It was awesome weather though…not oppresive heat like last week.
We rounded out the day with a rousing game of SLIME PIT KICKBALL! Kickball, yet much messier! Each base was a baby pool filled with something wonderfull: 1st base – instant mashed potatoes; 2nd base – baked beans; 3rd base – oatmeal; Home Plate – flour. There were 7 outs per side with a 3 inning limit. Most boys were caked with slime. It was greatness!
We are going to dive in to the different pieces of the armor of God tomorrow, starting with the Belt of Truth and the Brestplate of Righteousness. Please continue to pray as we are really treading on enemy occupied terratory.
We will also be having David Browning and his swordsmanship sensei Brian join us tomorrow evening to do a swordmnship demonstration…should be awesome.
Well, I am sitting outside the camp office poaching their wireless signal and about to pass out
. I’m wiped, but your boys are doing great and we are SO blessed to have them. You have no idea how much!
In His Strength,
Jason & Matt
