Day TWO!
Woke up, had some quiet time (some cabins quieter than others
) and some GOOD OL’ CAMP COPASS CHOW!!! While we were waiting in line the Golden Griffons gave a great devotional concerning David and Goliath.
The memory verse for Day Two was 2 Corinthians 10:4.
We talked about the first to pieces of the armor of God: The Belt of Truth & The Breastplate of Righteousness. With truth, the enemy fights us with things that are true but not the TRUTH…we talked a little about “Learning to Discern” the difference. Our friend Scott Wolfe put together a diagram that helps quite a bit as you are trying to sort out those messages that drop into our heads.
Righteousness…we talked about the fact that our own self-righteousness is kind of like wearing a medal on your uniform (Look at me! Look at what I did!) and in NO WAY protects you from the enemy’s pin pointed attacks at your heart. We need Christ’s Righteousness to cover us.
Each grade broke up into their small groups for a discussion, playing the game “Minefield” to drive the point home that we need to listen and focus on THE VOICE of Truth to guide us through the traps and snares the enemy lays out for us.
We broke for our “Training Time” which consisted of high ropes, low ropes, mini-golf and our wood burning project.
Back to chow, a little F.O.B. (flat on back time) and they were off to the snack shack…no doubt loading up on vegtables and other highly nutritious vittles (um, right!).
Then off to swim time. The sounds of water basketball, sliding, and chicken fights filled the air….
Back to chow and then we moved to behind the cabins to watch some awesome swordfighting!!!! David Browning and his sensei Brian did some sparring and then allowed the boys to take some shots at them. It was a lot of fun. Thank you Dave and Brian for making the trip and making some cool memories!
We then prepared for, that’s right, MORE POOL TIME! In the form of our “Sea Battle”. Team competition games consisting of, “Float the Moat”, “Junior Counselor Relay”, “Popcorn” and “Dive for Treasure”. Good times…
Then, back to the cabins, story time (each grade had one of two stories from Max Elliot Anderson – North Woods Poachers and Secret of Abbott’s Cave), and LIGHTS OUT!
All slept well….
